About Us

UniSea Inc. is proud to be one of the world’s leading processors of quality seafood products.  The company produces an impressive variety of finished seafood products that are distributed throughout the world.  Our parent company, Nippon Suisan Kaisha, headquartered in Japan, claims UniSea among its largest subsidiaries.

UniSea began operations in 1974, then known as Universal Seafoods, to engage in the booming King Crab and Tanner Crab fisheries in the Dutch Harbor and Bering Sea areas of Alaska.

The largest of the company’s Alaska operations consist of the state-of-the-art processing facilities, G1 and G2, in Dutch Harbor.  Surimi, a frozen fish protein manufactured from Pollock, is the primary ingredient in many imitation crab products.  Together with our increasingly popular frozen pollock fillet block product, these are some of UniSea's premier products today.  UniSea is also involved with the processing of many other types of seafood and seafood products, including snow crab and king crab, cod, halibut, yellowfin sole and herring among other species.

UniSea's hospitality operations expanded in 1993 with the opening of the luxurious Grand Aleutian Hotel in Dutch Harbor.  The 112-room hotel is a popular addition to the company’s other hotel, the UniSea Inn, and several popular food and beverage outlets.

UniSea's cold storage operation in Redmond, Washington, is a state-of-the-art facility providing convenient, cost effective cold storage for company products as well as commercial cold storage for a variety of goods.  The facility also provides the company with the ability to reprocess frozen seafood products in Redmond per customer specifications. The company’s corporate headquarters, located in Redmond, WA, provides a variety of support services for our operating units.
